Man wearing a lavender Moroccan winter djellaba with the hood down, front view

Model is 5'10, 155lbs, wearing a size Large. Item has a relaxed fit

A pale lavender, unexpected in a winter garment and striking because of it. The winter djelleba is Morocco's cold-weather thobe and the piece we put the most fabric into: hooded, cut long and full, made from heavier cloth that hangs rather than clings. Embroidery runs down the placket and a contrast cuff finishes each sleeve. Wear it as is or layer it up with another hoodie underneath for even further comfort against those harsh winters.

Hood: Traditional, attached, and large enough to actually pull up over your head. The detail that separates a djelleba from every other thobe.

Placket: Embroidered from the neck down the chest.

Cuff: Contrast trim at each sleeve, set against the lavender so the sleeve reads as finished rather than cut off.

Fabric: Heavyweight, woven for cold. Substantial enough to be your outer layer, with enough weight to keep its shape as you walk.

Pockets: None. Instead there are two open side slits, made traditionally so you can reach through to the pockets of your pants.

Fit: Long and full, cut for layering. There is room for a gandoura, hoodie, shirt or a kaftan beneath it. Measurements are on the size guide.

Best for: A cold Eid, winter gatherings, photographs. A truly unique color for a djelleba.

Wash instructions: Dry clean only. Do not squeeze or twist. Lighter shades may carry washable tailor marks, and slight colour variation can occur between restocks.
