Black is the one you will wear the most, and the one that asks the least of you. The kaftan is the most formal thing we make: a long-sleeved Moroccan thobe cut closer through the shoulders and chest than a gandoura, so it fits tailored rather than draped. In black the embroidery is tonal, close to the cloth, so it reads plain from across a room and detailed up close. Two working pockets, which is rarer in a kaftan than it should be.

Collar: Zipped. Stands upright with no fold, so the embroidery reads cleanly from the neck down.

Placket: Embroidered down the centre chest, with a concealed zip at the neck. The zip opens far enough to pull the kaftan on and off without disturbing the collar.

Sleeve: Long, finished with embroidery at the cuff for that extra bit of shine.

Fabric: Polyester and rayon blend. It holds a drape, resists creasing when you sit, and does not need pressing after a day out.

Pockets: Two, set into the side seams, deep enough for a phone and keys.

Fit: Tailored. Closer through the shoulders and chest than our gandoura. For a roomier fit, feel free to size up. Measurements are on the size guide.

Best for: Eid prayer, weddings, Jumu'ah, evening gatherings. If you are only going to own one kaftan, this is the one, because nothing else in your wardrobe has to agree with it.

Hand wash or dry clean only. Do not squeeze or twist. Lighter shades may carry washable tailor marks, and slight colour variation can occur between restocks.
